24/8 Book Club is a non-traditional book club, because in 2007, women don't have traditional lives. Platt and
Stone-Geier have found away to turn a hectic and time-challenged week from 24/7 into 24/8, delivering virtual
time for those who are avid readers, those who have forgotten the magic of reading, or just the curious. This
is the virtual water cooler for women who want to have fun, but myspace and YouTube are not their thing.
The record crowds at the Printers Row Book Fair, the success of the City of Chicago summer reading program, and
the 24.2 billion dollars of books sold in 2006 (according the Association of American Publishers) tell us that
reading is the mini vacation that women crave (besides chocolate).
Check out the www.248bookclub.com website. Once you're there, you can order a take out list of recommendations,
read oil and vinegar (head to head reviews), find out the dish on authors and more. Think "Ebert and Roper meet
Check Please," says 24/8 member Sue Reardon, owner of SoTish.
