Party Room
Consensus from our group was that the book was a ‘page turner’! It kept you guessing until the very end; allowing the reader to move very quickly from one page to another. We also enjoy the similarity that the characters in the book were also in a book club.
The storyline read like an episode of Desperate Housewives. Difference being was geographic location on the East Coast versus the West Coast. It was very interesting how the characters were defined and weaved into the storyline. Each couple had a past, present, and future. In defining the characters in the book, we liked how the author presented the reader with many twists, and turns that made the storyline very interesting.
We thought the author did an exceptional job of describing how each character translated his or her own beliefs surrounding the ‘murder’. Who would have known that the author was leading us down one path, only to be bringing us to another. The turn of events at the conclusion of the storyline was completely unexpected; although the title allowed for psychological unity (‘THEY DID IT FOR LOVE’) We knew there had to be more than one person involved- ‘but who?’ The silent display of the true characters, up until the very end, led the readers’ imagination. Our group thought that this storyline approach really kept the readers’ interest and attention.
In conclusion, we felt the book was very entertaining, and an easy read. A combined sketch of ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ meets ‘Peyton Place’.
Terrific ending to a wonderful story. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to review this book.
